Mission Update: Faith, Growth, and Hope Amid Challenges

Dear friends and supporters,

The past few months have been a period of both profound challenges and extraordinary blessings. While I have often thought about updating you on our progress, I found myself somewhat overwhelmed and distracted by the multitude of things happening here. Nevertheless, I want to begin by sharing some of the most inspiring highlights.

Growing in Faith

We are witness to incredible growth! Recently, I had the honor of baptizing 57 new members. It was a true miracle, reminiscent of the evangelization of Alaska, where people began dreaming of an Orthodox priest coming to deliver them from darkness.

Remarkably, one of my brother priests was assigned to the area where these dreams were received. Recognizing him as the priest in their visions, many locals, including numerous Muslims, are now eager to join the Church.

Overcoming Challenges

At our mission center, we were diligently working on a water project when, unfortunately, a few scam artists appeared, attempting to hinder our growth. Thankfully, God has blessed us with a dedicated team to confront these obstacles. As a result, we have had to pause some activities at the main mission center temporarily and instead focus on expanding in other areas.

Expanding Our Reach

Our Western missions continue to flourish. Over the past several months, more than 25 individuals have completed 1-2 years of catechism and been baptized.

In Kenya, the Saint Mary of Egypt mission is making excellent progress, more than halfway through construction of the rectory. Once we can provide a safe and stable space for Fr. Antipas, we anticipate tremendous growth for the church there.

A Heartfelt Thanks

Despite the difficulties of these months, the Lord’s faithfulness remains steadfast. Many souls are discovering Christ through your prayers and generous support. It is only because of YOU that all of this is possible—your faithfulness inspires and sustains us.

In closing, I ask for the intercession of our holy Father John Maximovich and all the saints, that we may be granted strength to continue serving faithfully wherever we are called.

Know that you are in my prayers and are commemorated at every liturgy.

In Christ,

Hieromonk Silouan (Brown)
